In order to become a professional who can cover the entire process from problem discovery to solution implementation, I enrolled at CMU and am acquiring the skills to embody solutions to solve problems.
While learning basic knowledge of typography, color, and information architecture, I have experience designing apps, websites, videos, dashboards, and other services that utilize these skills. I also improved my collaboration skills with people from various countries and backgrounds through many group projects.
I joined Business Connect l3c, which is a social enterprise providing water purification and sanitation products to people in the global south who don’t have access to clean water, to help their marketing. Since the company distributes there products through entrepreneurs, my mission was to help them expand their businesses through social media. I was responsible for devising a social media marketing strategy and creating actual content for their social media accounts as well as educating them on how to use social media effectively for their businesses.
Seeking to be involved in the execution of strategy, which was rarely possible at BCG, I moved to Dentsu Digital, a digital marketing company that focuses on customer experience.
I developed communication strategies for various clients based on user insights discovered through UX research. In addition, I worked closely to create solutions such as websites, apps, advertisements, and events in line with the strategies.
Thanks to the opportunities to collaborate tightly with them, I was able to learn the joys and difficulties of implementing strategies and the importance of execution skills.
My desire to be more directly involved in and contribute to the underlying business challenges of companies led me to a career with BCG, where I have worked with clients in a wide range of industries, from financial services to healthcare to telecommunications.
I gained the skills necessary to develop strategies for solving problems, including the ability to construct logical hypotheses, quantitative research, qualitative research, and data analysis. It was very exciting to have discussions with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, such as engineers, doctors, bankers, etc., and I learned a lot from them about how to work and think.
I started my first career at Fujitsu, a major IT company, as a sales representative for the automobile manufacturer Mazda. I collaborated with engineers to propose solutions that best balanced functionality and cost for the client's needs and implemented various hardware and software such as servers and CAD systems.
While helping to solve clients' IT problems, I also wanted to get more involved in their business challenges.
Focusing on operations research, which is a mathematical/statistical method that uses programming and computational analysis to find the best solutions to business problems, I learned the fundamentals essential to solving society's problems, such as ergonomics and financial engineering.
Apart from academics, I belonged to the lacrosse team, where I led the team as a member of the executive team. Our team won the top position in Japan in 2013.
